About Us
Voters passed a millage in 1998 to construct and operate a recreation facility in the Folsom area. On February 14, 2000 the doors of Recreation District # 12 officially opened to the public. The facility, commonly known as Magnolia Park sits on approximately 15 acres
and opened with three baseball / softball fields, one football / soccer field and a multi-purpose gymnasium. Since the Park opening,
many amenities have been added including: a walking trail, sidewalks, bleacher coverings, playground areas, extensive landscaping, a
remote concession / restroom, and outdoor fitness area and a splash pad..
Property taxes are the main source of income for the Park however, additional income is generated through rental of the gym, meeting room and fields. Please see the "Rental Information" pages for specific pricing on renting the facility.
The Park is governed by a five member Board of Commissioners, four being appointed by the Parish Council and one being appointed by the Parish President. The current Board consists of:
James Rogers, Chairman
Willie Richardson
Lacey Sharp
Brad Graham
Andrew Mendheim
The Park is managed full time by Jennifer Goings, who was hired in late 1999 to manage the day to day operations of the facility. The Park also employs 12 - 15 part-time employees each year for office work, field maintenance and concession operations.
